About the land

Globe shape

Angel Arriba is a sanctuary of breathtaking natural beauty and rich biodiversity. This reserve is home to ancient trees that have stood for centuries, six majestic wildcats, and an array of stunning natural features, including numerous waterfalls, serene pools, and dramatic gorges. Visitors to Angel Arriba can immerse themselves in the tranquility and magnificence of this untouched landscape, experiencing firsthand the diversity of plant and animal life that thrives here.

Our idealistic approach to conservation is rooted in a deep commitment to preserving and caring for this land for future generations. By purchasing and protecting this land, we ensure its natural splendor remains unspoiled. This multi-generational conservatory effort is supported by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), allowing for a modern, digital approach to land preservation.

A DAO to protect the land — forever

Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) are a new type of organization that is built on blockchain technology. DAOs are not controlled by any one person or group, but instead are governed by a set of rules that are encoded into the blockchain.

This makes DAOs very transparent and accountable, as anyone can see how the organization is being run.DAOs can be used to protect land in a number of ways. For example, a DAO could be used to buy land that is under threat from development or deforestation. The DAO could then manage the land in a sustainable way, such as by planting trees or creating a nature reserve.

On how to track beauty

To understand the full range of diversity present in Chirripo, we decided to follow Alexander von Humboldts approach by cartographing the land and document its flora, fauna and landmarks.
